ABSTRACT

Objective:To study the role of ultraviolet fluorescence detection technology in personal protective equipment education (PPE) and training. Methods:A study was designed to inspect the risk of self-contamination during PPE doffing between 77 healthcare workers. Used a fluorescent tracer slurry which put on the hands, chest, abdomen, knees to simulate the contaminations. Self-contamination of scrubs and skin was measured using ultraviolet light visualization respectively. Results:According to the uv-fluorescer simulating study, 43 (55.8%) of the medical staff had contamination after the removal of PPE, and the main sites of contamination included: left side of the abdomen 11 (11.70%), left side of the chest 9 (9.57%), left forearm 6 (6.38%), left foot instep 6 (6.38%), neck 6 (6.38%), right shoulder 5 (5.32%), etc. Among them, the frequency of simulated fluorescence pollution in the group with working years less than 6 years was less than that in the other groups, and the difference was statistically significant compared with the group of 11-15 years ( t value was -3.685, P value was 0.001 ). Conclusion:Ultraviolet fluorescence labeling detection technology can directly, quickly and effectively evaluate and feedback the key contaminated parts in the process of using PPE, which can provide detailed evidence for redesigning PPE and improve the PPE training process to reduce the contamination.

ABSTRACT

A large-area graphene platform electrode (GPE) was fabricated by transferring the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) graphene grown on Cu foils to polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates with the aid of polymethyl-methacrylate (PMMA).Then cobalt hexacyanoferrate (CoHCF) was electrodeposited on the GPE by cyclic voltammetry to obtain a CoHCF/GPE.The morphology and electrochemical properties of this electrode were studied by scanning electron microscope (SEM), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and the electrochemical measurements. Results showed that the electrode had favorable sensing effect toward H2O2.On the basis of this, a new nonenzyme H2O2 sensor was constructed.Under the optimal experimental conditions, the proposed sensor had a quick response to the addition of H2O2 (about 2 s) with a wide linear rang (5 × 10-3-1.2 mmol/L) and a low detection limit (7.1 nmol/L).This sensor was easy to fabricate and showed excellent stability and anti-interference ability.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the protective effects of adjunctive general anesthesia of dexmedetomidine on cardiac and cerebral ischemia-perfusion injury. METHODS:50 patients,ASA physical status Ⅰ-Ⅱ,undergoing selective tracheal intuba-tion,were randomly divided into dexmedetomidine group (group D) and control group (group C) with 25 cases in each group. The patients in group D received a loading dose of 1 μg/kg of dexmedetomidine by infusion pump before anaesthesia,10 min lat-er by a maintenance dose of 0.5 μg/(kg·h)till the end of surgery;whereas patients in group C received normal saline and same induction. HR,SBP and DBP of 2 groups were monitored at the beginning of operation,10 min after incision,30 min after inci-sion,at the end of operation. Blood samples of vena jugularis interna were taken to determine the plasma levels of cardiac tropo-ninⅠ(cTnⅠ) ,adrenaline and norepinephrine before anesthesia induction (T0),at the end of surgery (T1),6 h after surgery (T2),12 h after surgery(T3),24 h after surgery(T4),48 h after surgery(T5). RESULTS:There was no statistical significance in the levels of HR,SBP and DBP in group D between during operation and at the beginning of operation(P>0.05);those in-dex were significantly lower than those of group C at corresponding time points, with statistical significance(P<0.05). The lev-els of cTnⅠ in group D at T2-T5 were significantly lower than in group C,with statistical significance(P<0.05). The levels of adrenaline and norepinephrine at T1-T5 were significantly lower than group C,with statistical significance (P<0.05). CONCLU-SIONS:Adjunctive general anesthesia of dexmedetomidline can improve cardiac and cerebral ischemia-perfusion injury to certain extent.

ABSTRACT

Total hip replacement (THR) is replacing the prosthesis stem similar to human bone that takes advantage of the material with both good mechanical properties and biocompatibility to the damaged articular surface. Thus it can not only alleviate or even eliminate the pain but also effectively maintain the joint stability and freedom and restore its normal performance. Finite element analysis was used in this study to establish a 3D model of artificial hip stem, and explore its fatigue properties of different materials to ensure the safety and reliability. The calculating obtained two results of different metal hip prosthesis, including lifetime and deformation. The minimum service life of titanium prosthesis reaches 568 million times, which satisfies ISO standards, while the stainless steel does not suit to be a prosthesis material.

ABSTRACT

Through a series of chemical reactions, a kind of quaternary ammonium salt derivative of nanodiamond, ND-CO-NH-CH2-CH2-N ( CH3 ) 3+· I-( QAS-ND ) , was obtained , which was confirmed by FTIR, element analysis experiment and the electrochemistry measurements. Mixed myoglobin ( Mb) and QAS-ND solution was dropped on the surface of the glassy carbon ( GC ) electrode to prepare QAS-ND/Mb/GC modified electrode. In 0. 1 mol/L phosphate buffer solution (PBS) (pH 7. 0), Mb in the membrane exhibited direct electrochemical properties and showed good stability. The electrocatalytic property of the modified electrode toward H2 O2 was investigated, the results showed that the modified electrode could be used as the H2O2 biosensor to achieve fast, accurate detection of H2O2, with a detection limit of 3. 5 mmol/L (S/N=3).

ABSTRACT

Objective To assess the relationship between the enhanced intensity of carotid plaque and risk of cerebral infarction using contrast-enhanced ultrasonography(CEUS). Methods Eighty one patients with cerebral infarction and 95 patients without cerebral infarction were enrolled in this study. All the patients were performed using CEUS. The characteristics of plaque enhancement was categorized: grade Ⅰ , non-enhancement;grade Ⅱ , the arterial wall vasa vasorum enhancement; grade Ⅲ. the arterial wall vasa vasorum and plaque shoulder enhancement; grade Ⅳ , extensive and internal plaque enhancement. The data between the two groups was compared and analysed. Results Plaque enhancement presented with grade Ⅰ in 7 cases of 81 patients and 26 cases of 95 controls, grade Ⅱ in 14 and 37,grade Ⅲ in 26 and 17,grade Ⅳ in 34 and 15. The percentage of stroke in grade Ⅰ was 21.2% (7/33),grade Ⅱ was 27.5%(14/51), grade Ⅲ was 60.5% (26/43) and gradeⅣ was 69.4% (34/49). The percentage of stroke in grade Ⅲ was significantly higher than that in grade Ⅰ and Ⅱ ( P = 0. 001, P = 0. 001 ), and there was no significant difference between grade Ⅲ and Ⅳ ( P = 0.370). The sensitivity and specificity for grade of plaque enhancement (AUC = 0. 721, cutoff value > grade Ⅱ ) were 74. 1 % and 66. 3% respectively. Conclusions The grade of enhancement of carotid plaques in CEUS is a valid indicator to anticipate cerebral infarction. The higher the grade of enhancement of carotid plaques, the higher the risk of cerebral infarction.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of low-dose levothyroxine sodium in treatment of severe pulmonary tuberculosis with euthyroid sick syndrome(ESS). Methods One hundred and twenty inpatients with severe pulmonary tuberculosis and ESS were randomly divided into treatment group and control group by gender, age, disease duration and severity. Both groups were given anti- tuberculosis, antiinfection treatment and nutritional support for 2 weeks; patients in treatment group were given low-dose levothyroxine sodium additionally. Thyroid function, clinical improvements, increase of albumin, reduction of acid-fast bacilli, improvements on images and the mortality rates were compared between the groups. Results After 2 weeks of treatment, symptoms including fever, cough and night sweats were improved in both groups. Marked improvements were observed in 19 patients(31.7%)of treatment group and 8 patients (13.3%)of control group(χ2 = 5. 73, P < 0.05). Clearance rate of acid-fast bacilli in treatment group was 25.0%(15/60), but that in the control was only 6.7%(4/60)(χ2 = 7. 50, P < 0.01). Serum albumin in the treatment group was increased to(34.2 ±0.4)g/L after the treatment, and that in the control group was(29.1 ±0.6)g/L(t =2.42, P<0.05). T3 and FT3 were significantly increased in both groups, but more significant difference was observed in the treatment group(t = 59. 42 and 50. 66, P < 0. 01). No empty closed after treatment in both groups, but the effective rate in treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group(93.3% vs. 76.7%, χ2 =6. 54, P<0.05). Two patients in control group died(2/60, 3. 3%), while no death was reported in treatment group. Conclusions Low-dose levothyroxine sodium treatment is effective for ESS in patients with severe pulmonary tuberculosis.Improvement on low T3 syndrome may be an important indicator for the overall improvement or recovery.

ABSTRACT

UNLABELLEDThis investigation was made to explore the chaotic characteristics of cardiac system and differences of autonomic nervous system development of normal pregnant rats and fetuses. The electrocardiograms, chaotic graphics and digital characteristics of heart period signal (HPS) of normal pregnant rats and fetuses by day 21st were evaluated with a computerized HPS extracting and analyzing system.

RESULTS(1) The mean values of frequency and voltage of fetal rats electrocardiograms were lower than those of pregnant rats significantly (P < 0.01). (2) Being similar to those in human, the chaotic graphics showed three-amplitudes spectral features in both normal pregnant rats and fetuses. However, the second amplitude and third amplitude were lower in fetal rats than in pregnant rats. (3) The Heart Relative Dispersion, Lyapunov Exponent and Fractional Dimension were significantly lower in fetal rats than in pregnant rats (P < 0.01). These findings demonstrated that the autonomic nervous system development of fetal rat was still immature and it exhibited lower complexity of HPS and chaotic degree than that of pregnant rat did.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To evaluate the shaping effects of multi-taper ProTaper combined with nickel-titanium(Ni-Ti) K file in simulated S-shaped canals. Methods:Thirty simulated S-shaped resinous canals were randomly divided into three groups and prepared with hand ProTaper, hand Ni-Ti K file, hand ProTaper combined with Ni-Ti K file respectively. The shaping effects were assessed by the amount of material removed from the inner and outer wall of canal as well as the width of canal after instrumentation. Results: The shaping files of ProTaper removed the least material in amount of materials from the same apical dimension. The finishing files of ProTaper removed the most amount of material at the inner side of curvature and outer side of apex. ProTaper combined with Ni-Ti K file removed the least material at the above parts and the widths of canals prepared were gradually decreased from the orifice to the apex. Conclusion:ProTaper combined with Ni-Ti K file exhibited good shaping effects in simulated S-shaped canals.
